6 signs you need a healing session

You may be wondering how to tell if you need a personal cleanse or not.

There are many ways to tell if you need one. Most of them are physical experiences, however other types of 'symptoms' can be experienced. I will explore the most common ones below.

1. Feeling drained and exhausted

Feeling drained, exhausted and lethargic without straining yourself or after being in a crowd is a sign your energy has been affected by other people or spirits. This is probably the most common sign of all, and is the easiest to spot, especially if you're normally an energetic person.

2. Feeling ill

If you randomly feel ‘off’, sick in your stomach, have a headache or migraine or have sore muscles (especially neck pain) with no logical explanation, then it may be a sign you need a cleanse. The most common spots you may feel it are your stomach, your gut, your head and in your back.

For empaths, this is one of the most common ways to spot that you've taken on someone's energy, and you may often feel this way in crowds.

3. Constantly feeling negative emotions, such as anger, anxiety and fear.

If you are a positive person, this sudden turnaround is a key factor in whether you're being affected by negative energy.

4. Sudden and drastic changes in your personality.

Related to #3, you may be experiencing a drastic change in your personality. You may have been a positive person, but are all of a sudden feeling negative emotions and thinking negative thoughts.

Examples include feeling insecure about your body, depressed or even feeling suicidal. These are all signs that you've come in contact with negative energies or spirits.

Both #3 and #4 ARE NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH MENTAL ILLNESSES. If you feel you need medical attention, please seek it and get a proper diagnosis and treatment.

Negative energy is a sudden onset of energy that you don’t normally experience. Interacting with negative energy produces sudden changes in your health, mood and personality that have no logical explanation or seem to come from nowhere.

It is not the same as being clinically depressed or anxious etc. and thus it is important to know the difference within yourself and to seek help if you need it.

5. Experiencing stagnancy or constant bad luck

If you’ve been feeling stuck in a rut, like your life isn't progressing, that you're constantly having bad luck or that nothing works out for you, this could be a sign that you need a cleanse.

You may have come in contact with a negative energy - whether it be a living person or a spirit - and now you need to remove it because it is blocking positivity from entering your life.

6. Nightmares

Having bad dreams or nightmares constantly can be a sign that you’re carrying negative energy on you or that it‘s around you. These dreams are a sign from your body and your spirit guides that you need to remove this negativity from your life.

Like I said, these are the most common signs. Your body will tell you if you need a cleanse, I know mine always does.

You will feel ‘off’ and not like your usual self. This is why it’s important to listen to your body and pay attention to what is ‘normal’ for your body and what isn’t.

What should I do?

Stay calm. It's easy to cleanse your energy. As my spiritual practice evolves, I find less that I am using sage and palo santo as a personal cleansing tool. It is an easy way to clear energy, however, you must acknowledge that these practices have Native American roots and may make persons of that culture upset if you use them and are not of that culture.

Others ways to clear your energy include:

- Reiki and Shaman healing sessions

- Cord cuttings

- Breath work and releasing the energy back to the universe to be transmuted into love and light energy
